West Thurrock Biomass CHP Plant

Community Benefits

The West Thurrock Biomass CHP project will provide new jobs and contract opportunities during the construction phase for a wide range of disciplines, from groundworks to complex and highly trained engineers in control and instrumentation equipment and all trades between.

When the plant is up and running, around 25 engineering jobs will be created on a permanent basis. As part of our contracting process we will host a “meet the buyer” event in the local area before construction starts and will have the operator of the plant present to discuss forthcoming employment opportunities.

By using waste wood to produce heat and power, the CHP plant will reduce P&G’s greenhouse gas emissions and the surplus energy will help the UK meet its renewable energy targets.
